Special: Wild About Herbs

Living With Color

Would you believe there’s an herb that has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-cancer effects AND tastes great with stir fry or chocolate chip cookies? Can you name the herb that stimulates the immune system, can increase circulation, and improve digestion and is Latin for “Dew of the Sea?”
Herbs have become a multi-million dollar industry, and claims for their healing powers are growing by leaps and bounds. With gardening as one of the most popular hobbies in America... more people are growing, purchasing, and consuming herbs than ever before. But why this return to nature in an age where scientific and technological breakthroughs make the headlines every day?

Developed and produced for Public Broadcasting System (PBS) Wild About Herbs is hosted by award-winning, best-selling author and naturalist, Roger Tabor. Filmed before a live studio audience, Roger takes us through a hands-on tour of a dozen of the most popular herbs. Gingko Biloba, Ginseng, Rosemary, and Echinacea... they're all here with up-to-date facts on the real truth about their medicinal effectiveness and culinary uses. This program has also been used as a fund-raising special to help support public broadcasting nationwide.
